P-TECH School Virtual Mentoring
June 1, 2023 - May 30, 2024
An event every month that begins at 12:00am on day 1 of the month, repeating until December 31, 2023
UMB partners with the P-TECH School at Dunbar to support high school students who are simultaneously pursuing both an associate degree and High School Diploma and who are interested in health professions. The PTECH school model calls for every student to have access to professional mentors to help guide them toward their professional goals, give general career advice and help students build communication skills.
PTECH mentors connect with and coach students on a regular basis over the course of the school year and serve as a key part of their success. You time commitment will be an average of 4 in-person meetings during the school year as well as regular video/text conversations with your mentee. It’s important to note that PTECH at Dunbar staff will work closely with each mentor to provide their mentee with individualized support and resources as needs are identified by you as a mentor. PTECH mentors will receive guidance from PTECH Dunbar staff and information on registration as a school volunteer. All mentors must submit to background check done by Baltimore City Public Schools.
If you are interested in serving as a mentor please visit Mentor/Volunteers – P-TECH Healthcare Baltimore (ptechhealthcarebaltimore.com) to register. If you have questions, please contact Principal Tara Williams at 443-642-4478.
