Mentor Middle Schoolers in Baltimore
Mentors work with a small group of scholars as they define and pursue their personal and educational goals, gain awareness of high school, college, and career options, and take steps to access those options through writing, reading, and critical thinking activities. Activities and support are provided; no experience is required! Mentoring takes place in person and COVID-19 vaccination is required. Lori's Hands is an intergenerational service learning experience. Students make weekly visits to community members with chronic diseases to assist with daily activities and, in turn, learn about the real life experience of chronic illness. Volunteers grocery shop, do yard work, light cleaning and organizing; they even come just for a friendly visit. Volunteers typically serve one time per week for a 1 - 2 hour visit. Volunteers are needed for the Pigtown Festival on September27,2025. The festival will be located in Historic Pigtown, beginning on the 700 block of Washington Blvd. There are several roles for volunteers to fill, including: - Vendor check in - Set up - Greeters - Break relief - Clean up & Break down There are a number of 2 - 4 hours shifts available, ranging from 8:00am - 10:00pm.
