SUMMARY:Higher Achievement Seeking Math Tutors and Mentors!
DESCRIPTION:Higher Achievement’s model delivers educational support grounded in social justice principles. Our afterschool program for 5th-8th grade scholars combines academic enrichment with social-emotional skill building\, culminating in placement in college preparatory high schools. \nHigher Achievement is seeking tutors specialized in math academic enrichment and homework support. Higher Achievement’s academic enrichment activities sharpen scholars’ math skills\, get extra support in challenging concepts\, and provide a safe space to grow and learn. During learning blocks\, scholars participate in educational electives\, work on high school applications\, and complete their homework with support from staff. \nHigher Achievement’s mentors are key partners to our scholars’ success\, joining us each week to make a measurable and clear impact on the lives of young people. \nOur mentors range from college students to retirees\, coming from all kinds of personal and professional backgrounds. They comprise a rich network of community members who are invested in the neighborhoods where they work and live\, and who believe that opportunities make all the difference. No teaching experience is required. \nMath tutors dedicate a minimum of one hour per week\, but are welcome to dedicate more time!\nMentors dedicate one hour per week with an academic (October – May) commitment! \n
